AWARD-WINNING CHEF DANA RODRIGUEZ WAS TIRED OF THE CELEBRITY AND MASS PRODUCED TEQUILAS AND MEZCALS. SO, SHE PARTNERED WITH OTHER LOCAS TO MAKE THEIR OWN.
As a celebrated James Beard nominated chef, Dana approached this project like any of her other recipes using high quality ingredients and traditional methods. Dana along with other locas traveled through Oaxaca and Jalisco provinces in Mexico in search of distillers that respected the land, the people and the tradition. They partnered with family-owned, women-led distillers that respect their workers, the land and their community. The Locas went on to spend two years learning about the distillation process and adjusting the recipe to perfect the flavor.

Co-founder and James Beard nominated Denver chef Dana Rodriguez is known for her strong personality, her passion to serve, and her motherly caring for her employees. She is endearingly called Loca, which means “crazy” because Dana is crazy fun.
As a native of Chihuahua, Dana’s passionate connection to the land, the people and the traditional methods of her home country was the driving force in creating Doña Loca.
